Over the edge
It was probably a 10 metre drop. She spent the whole day down there, rustling around through the leaves and brambles. In the afternoon I dropped some bread crumbs down to this little ledge where it was the shortest distance back up. But it was still too steep and too high. Flying down is a lot easier than flying up.
Then we lowered a really long extension ladder down for her, and after a few minutes, she discovered it and jumped onto a bottom rung. Then slowly but surely, she climbed the ladder, hopping up and up until finally she reached the top.
It was nearly dark and she made it back to the chook house just in time for a good long drink of water and then bed.
